Protect your workforce with free vaccinations

April 17, 2025 by Keely Knopp
Mercy Urgent Care is here to protect you and your employees from illness — at no cost. From now until May 15, Mercy is offering free Tdap vaccinations at all eight locations across Western North Carolina.
What is Tdap and why is it important? The Tdap vaccine protects against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough) — three potentially serious diseases that can impact adults of any age.
Tetanus is caused by bacteria most commonly found in soil, dust and manure. It enters the body through cuts or puncture wounds and wreaks havoc on the nervous system, causing painful muscle stiffness and spasms. There is no cure for tetanus — only prevention through vaccination.
Diphtheria and pertussis, more commonly known as whooping cough, are two highly contagious respiratory infections. Diphtheria can lead to difficulty breathing, inflammation of the heart, nerve damage or even death, while pertussis is an infection marked by severe coughing fits that can last for weeks.
Why now? The CDC recommends adults receive a Tdap booster every 10 years, and many employees may be overdue without realizing it. Tdap not only helps prevent outbreaks in the workplace, but it also protects employees and their families — especially those in regular contact with infants and older adults, as it helps prevent the spread of infection to vulnerable populations.
How to participate: Employees are welcome to visit any Mercy Urgent Care location between now and May 15 to receive their free Tdap vaccine.
Keep your team healthy, safe and protected through this special offer, while supplies last!
