About Asheville
Almost 200 years ago, Asheville’s climate—was recognized as place for those with debilitating illnesses to rest and recuperate. Over time, physicians who had recommended the city to their patients began relocating to the region themselves. Thus, establishing the area as a renowned health and wellness destination.
In addition to being a healing retreat, Asheville is a vibrant mountain city with incredible music, culture, food and outdoor festivals and activities. The area is great for lovers of the outdoors and outdoor recreation. Asheville is close to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and only 4 1/2 hours to beaches on the South Carolina coast.
While some say there is a powerful healing energy created by crystal formations in the mountains that draws people to the area, it could just be that health-minded people come here for the beautiful scenery, abundance of outdoor activity, wellness and alternative practices, and the community.
